Our Mission:
Mezzo Gallery exists as a middle space, creating opportunities for dialogue and discovery in between the worlds of art and faith. We seek to support emerging and mid-career artists, by exhibiting their work in a unique and intimate setting.
An outgrowth of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Mezzo Gallery aspires to see imaginations baptized and spirits inspired through engaging with the visual arts, forming people to a greater love of God and love of neighbor.
Through exhibitions, artist talks, reading groups, special events, and partnership with Intersect Arts Center, Mezzo Gallery hopes to deepen conversations on faith, art, and what it means to work vocationally as an artist in this world.
What We Do:
Mezzo’s Gallery space hosts 3-5 exhibitions a year, featuring artwork from contemporary artists of faith. We do solo and group exhibitions, and feature local St. Louis artists as well as nationally known artists. Each exhibition also includes events and opportunities to engage with the work on display, which you can learn more about on our events page.
Opportunities for Artists
Artists who make work deeply informed by their theology or even directly exploring their faith often run into obstacles exhibiting. By offering a space specifically dedicated to showcasing work that is created by Christians, wrestles with Christian theology, or finds resonance in Christian themes, we hope to encourage artists in their vocation.
Encouraging the Church
We believe engagement with visual arts can help to form the imagination and practices of the Church. Our exhibitions often collaborate with programing at Holy Cross and our partner gallery, Intersect Arts Center to offer more opportunities for the spiritually and art curious to be delighted, challenged, and encouraged.
